A new building for KWR
A good preparation…
For KWR 2013 is marked by the construction of its new building. In mid 2014 KWR will have a new office, built on its own site. A modern, multi-functional building that meets the latest sustainability and environmental-integration standards. A building dedicated to collaboration, knowledge sharing and innovation. Project leader Mireille Henst is closely involved in the building’s preparation and construction, which really gets underway in the autumn of 2013.
The preparatory activities include an archaeological investigation: the building site contains possible archaeological remains from the Second World War. If these are found, the building’s construction will be delayed. BAAC bv, a company specialised in archaeological excavation, digs three test trenches. After a day’s research it is clear: the ground contains no remains of archaeological interest. KWR can proceed with its planned activities.
Before the municipality issues a building permit, it has, following due diligence, to ensure that all construction and environmental obligations have been fulfilled. After all the procedures are completed and the neighbours consulted, the municipality of Nieuwegein issues the building permit. An occasion for celebration for the Design Team.
